Via Ferrata Youth Climbing Camp
Ready to reach new heights? This five-day climbing camp is the ultimate introduction to the world of technical rock climbing—built just for middle and high schoolers with big mountain dreams. Whether you're local or visiting, this is your chance to get vertical, build confidence, and experience real high-alpine adventure.
Campers will split their time between the Via Ferrata and traditional top-rope climbing routes, exploring multiple locations across the mountain. Each day brings a new challenge, and with a 3:1 camper-to-guide ratio, everyone gets personalized instruction in climbing movement, belaying, gear handling, and the fundamentals of high-angle risk management.
Led by AMGA-certified top rope guides, participants gain hands-on skills in a supportive, safety-first environment—no prior climbing experience required. By the end of the week, campers will walk away with the basic proficiencies and confidence needed to join a guided or expert-led climbing experience.
Age: 12-18 years old
Minimum weight: 88lbs
Meet daily at 8:45am at the Mountain Sports School. Camp ends at 4pm.
Lunch included.

What is Via Ferrata?
Via Ferrata, translated as "iron way," dates back to WWI. Italian soldiers built via ferratas to safely traverse mountain passes. The recreational use of via ferratas is a staple in the Alps for summer adventure, and Jackson Hole is excited to bring this experience to the Tetons. With 15 unique routes, the Jackson Hole Via Ferrata is an adventure unlike any other, offering some of the most incredible views of the valley as climbers make their way up iron rungs, ladders and suspended bridges, all while secured to cables along the rocks.
The Via Ferrata is the perfect training grounds for an aspiring rock climber and it is a priceless resource in our Via Ferrata Youth Climbing Camp. Using the Via Ferrata. campers get the best first stepping stone into the incredible world of climbing!
Guided Rock Climbing
Join our AMGA-certified guides to challenge yourself with a traditional single pitch rock climbing experience. After learning the basics of moving on the rock, you will have the opportunity to discover the routes rated from 5.6 (beginner) to 5.10 (advanced) on the comfort of a top rope belay. Find a deep sense of accomplishment as you propel yourself to the top of one of Jackson’s storied bowls.

Aided by metal rungs and footholds installed in the rock and tethered to a continuous cable, you will access the peaks above Casper Bowl. This world-class experience offers boundless views and routes for beginning to professional explorers alike.
