In anticipation of Jackson Hole’s first-ever cooking event at the iconic James Beard House in Manhattan’s West Village, we did some advance recon and took a summer visit to the culinary institution one warm August day to get the lay of the land for our October 2 media event and evening dinner feature.
The Beard House is the former home of the food visionary and educator and the historic building oozes character, elegance and history. Beard’s brownstone transformed to “performance space” for chefs. Visitors to the Beard House will walk through the door almost immediately to the tight kitchen and see chefs preparing and cooking live for guests.
The best part- the dining and eating- takes place upstairs on the second story of Beard’s home in an elegant library and dining area dedicated to enjoying good food and wine.
Guest will dine on Chefs Wes Hamilton and Rodger Freedman’s innovative, collaborative and authentically Wyoming menu at a select sit down lunch followed by a festive dinner for James Beard Foundation members, Jackson Hole enthusiasts and the general food-focused New York public. It’s an excellent opportunity for fans of Jackson Hole to gather and eat the best food the resort and community has to offer by some of our most celebrated chefs. Stay tuned for more #holefood reports on the upcoming From the Range event next week- including highlights of the purveyors Jackson Hole is partnering with on October 2.
