Dec. 9 - Dec. 15 - The Aerial Tram is back for the season! 4,139 vertical feet of terrain awaits. Read on for Dr. Huckinstuff's weekly recap:

From the celebratory atmosphere of alpine addicted camaraderie to the peaceful solitude of early season solo sliding, the week of December 9-15 supplied a grab bag of good times. On Saturday the Village took on a vibe of revelry as 3,114 denim-clad devotees to merriment came together to crush a new world record for skiing in jeans. Brainchild of Ned Wonson, the off-beat and lighthearted event turned into the perfect kick off of upper mountain access. A fresh 9 inches the night before allowed Thunder and Sublette lifts to fire up for the first time this season, stretching the available vertical to well over 3,000 feet. The daily jean-rider record easily fell, as live music erupted in Teton Village to finish off the entertainment. Nobody really knew what to expect from Ski in Jeans Day during its leadup. But ultimately, I think it proved to be a welcome reminder in this time of global tension, that this silly pastime we love to partake in is supposed to be a relaxing respite from reality, and that we should never take this life or ourselves too seriously. As the week rolled on with warming temperatures and mostly sun laden skies, the new additions to the lift roster allowed the light crowds to spread out even further in search of the sublime. Adventurous locals carefully expanded their explorations into the upper elevation backcountry, while corduroy perfection powered the souls of the soft carve cravers. Adrenaline charged GS and slalom races on the northern side of the mountain rounded out the week, as the USSS Western Region Open FIS Tech Race Series pitted some of the nation's top shredders against each other and the clock.

Looking ahead we're in a bit of a dry pattern, but the season feels like it's in full swing now, and the sneaking sensation of something special headed our way seems to have settled into my psyche. So, stay stoked folks. Hope to see you out here in the crisp alpine air, taking more pleasure than you dare. -Lege

32 years ago, John Fournelle remembers driving up from Alta, Utah, pulling up to @jacksonhole and getting straight into the tram line. That 18" day of blower pow started it all. Today, John oversees all lift operations at the resort. Some say, lifties are the soul of a resort. Get to know this mountain towner in this week's episode.
