After spending lots of time at home and finishing up the school year on Zoom, today we went out on an adventure. The girls and I got to celebrate the end of school, the beginning of summer and a return to the wild. For us, living in the mountains is really lucky. We are able to get outside and experience nature frequently and this has become more meaningful now more than ever. Summer is here, and we are so happy to be outside and enjoying everything Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has to offer this summer!

Avery (11) and Hannah (9) are avid skiers and love being at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. They have their favorite ski runs and favorite rituals, but most of all, they love getting waffles on the mountain. They were thrilled to learn that the fabled waffle making operation was moved from Corbet’s Cabin to Off-Piste for this summer. We couldn’t wait to check it out, so we boarded the Bridger Gondola for a scenic ride to Rendezvous Lodge and the Deck.

It was a beautiful ride and the vistas were awesome. There is a lot of wildlife around the base and it is not uncommon to see animals on the journey. A family who we met had just seen a mama moose and two calves under the gondola tower, a very cool sighting! We missed the moose, but were ready for the waffles with a view.

The girls decided to get their favorite standbys, The Italian (Nutella-yum) and the Traditional (butter and brown sugar-more yum) as we entered Off Piste. It was lunchtime so we could not resist checking out the new pizza offerings. This is not to be missed. Is there anything better than New York style pizza followed by a waffle? I don’t think so!

After enjoying our pizza and waffles with a view, we decided to meander down the wildflower trail to check out the snow levels and wildflowers. The snow is melting quickly, but there is still a chance to throw a snowball. The wild flowers are also stunning. The lupine, Indian paintbrush and lilacs are in full bloom- so pretty to see. After a nice walk, we ended up back at the gondola for the ride down. It was nice and cool, so refreshing and wonderful to be outside. We got to celebrate the end of the school year in a different way this year

There is a lot to do in Teton Village this summer. Hannah is an avid mountain biker and she is dreaming of riding the nearby Teewinot lift to the mountain bike trails this weekend. Avery, is looking forward to enjoying the Via Ferrata for the second time for some guided climbing. We all agreed that next time we will hike the Wildflower trail from the base to earn our lunch!

Most people know summer in Teton Village for the Aerial Tram ride and this adventure is something different. Different times call for different adventures. Whatever you do this summer, take a ride up the Gondola, check out the view and try some pizza and waffles. You won’t regret it.
