UPDATE 11/17/20: As a reminder, as part of JHMR’s special use permit with Bridger Teton National Forest when the ski area is closed for public operation, access is prohibited due to hazard and safety considerations, including all uphill traffic, skiing, and snowboarding. Many workers and machines are on the mountain at this time, preparing for the Thanksgiving Day opening.

11/12/20: Yep, you read that title right, we are only 2 weeks from opening day. Everyone could use a little winter stoke after a crazy year and for us as skiers and riders, seeing fresh snow on the ground and more snow in the forecast is just what the doc ordered.

Big Red with a fresh coat of white snow. Just how we like to see it.

Over the past 48 hours 26″ of snow has blanketed the upper mountain and 36″ have fallen so far in the last 4 days. All forecasts show the surge of snow is expected to continue through the weekend. By the looks of the snow report below from our local weatherman from mountainweather.com, Woody Woodmencey, it might be time to grab your skis or board, drop them off at your local shop, and get them waxed and tuned.

More snow forecasted for this weekend in the Tetons.

Now that we are just 14 days away from skiing all hands are on deck getting ready for the first chair to spin. Snowmaking crews are working hard to set a perfect base on as many trails as possible and with the help of mother nature, their progress continues every day. Ski Patrol is sharpening up their skills during their yearly training classes and lift maintenance is checking every lift to ensure they are ready for opening.

It takes a village to keep a mountain running during the winter and during the season our employees work hard from the last call of the day to the first chair of the next day to give you the best skiing we can. Watch our newest video, 24 Hours- Last Call to First Chair, and get a behind the scenes look at what goes into opening the mountain during the winter.
