During wintertime in Jackson, Wyoming everyone keeps their eyes glued to the weather forecast. We pass the time on bluebird days shredding groomers, skiing chalky north-facing chutes inbounds, or when optimal conditions align, exploration of the surrounding backcountry peaks. Plus, work, laundry, bills, and life stuff.

But when a storm system is bearing down on Jackson Hole the entire valley gets eerily quiet in the evening except for the grating of snowplows on the road. Early to bed followed by the alarm going off  with the night skies still pitch black, finds us hoping like a kid on Christmas morning that the weather forecast held true. Rolling over to grab the alarm and then check JHMR’s app, JH Insider, to look at the 24 hour and overnight snow totals. Next stoke the fire to keep the house warm, make a cup of coffee, check the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center forecast and head to the resort.

Max goes deep in the powder vortex.

This storm quenched everyone’s thirst for powder with over two feet of light density snow that billows up and covers you with every turn. Yes eyes are still glued to the weather forecast anticipating Mother Nature’s next gift to the mountains. Work, bills, laundry and life stuff can wait.

As a reminder we are sold out this Saturday, 1/29/2021. Please plan ahead, properly mask up, carpool or use public transit options while traveling to Teton Village.
