Cam Fitzpatrick has been a staple on the Jackson Hole athlete team for many years now and his yearly features in snowboard films showcase his undeniable style and talent. Like so many professional athletes, thier passions extend beyond the sport they commit their lives to. For Cam and his girlfriend Rene Woodmencey, their passion for entrepreneurship has resulted in Bar-SIP-Bar.

Bar-SIP-Bar is a mobile cocktail service that is based out of a custom 1991 Horse Trailer built by Cam, Rene and a couple of close friends. Last week we caught up with Cam and Rene to learn more about their business and how it all started.

Tell us about Bar-SIP-Bar. How did the idea start?
Rene: Cam has always loved anything frozen so naturally, he is a huge fan of sloshes. Originally we joked about having a sloshy bar and somewhere along the line the conversation grew and we decided doing a full-service bar was actually a pretty good idea. We loved the idea of the bar coming to you, wherever that may be.

Who did the build out? How long did it take?
Cam: We actually did most the build-out ourselves! Rene and I bought the trailer at the end of August 2018. We had help from one of JHMR’s best Ranyon d’Arge to help us do the window cut out on the side of the trailer. The guy has crazy welding skills and I think this double insulated steel walls put him to the test. We were able to do the painting/smaller tasks inside a barn for most the winter and once spring came around we had time to work on the big stuff like the electric, plumbing and final details. My buddy Max Morgen helped us with that aspect of the trailer. I was a huge learning experience and all in all it took about 8 months to finish the trailer.

Cam and Rene took a full winter to custom build out their new dream.

Where did the name Bar-SIP-bar come from?
Cam: We wanted something that honored our Wyoming roots but also worked alongside our horse trailer. From there we started thinking of ranch brands. Bar is used in a lot of ranch branding but it also spoke to what we are, a Bar! From there we just wanted a short but sweet word that summed up what you do when you have a drink. SIP it was! And from there came our Brand, no pun intended.

Ready to serve your next wedding or event.

Did both you and Rene have experience bartending before Bar-SIP-Bar?
Cam: Yes, we both had been bartending for many years prior. Rene had worked weddings and events in town for years as well, so both aspects have helped us know the various sides of this business before starting.

Was it tough balancing a professional snowboard career and starting a company this winter?
Cam: This past winter our business was mostly just renovating the trailer whenever we didn’t have a powder day. This winter may be a little harder, but with the two of us we can make it all work! Luckily most winter events are indoors in the evening, which gives me time to film and ride during the day. When we have events that require more time I make the time just like I do for snowboarding.

You guys have a fun Instagram page and have had a few great articles written about Bar-SIP-Bar, are you already busy this summer?
Rene: We have been really lucky to have the publicity through the articles that have been written which I’m sure has helped us book a few more events already this summer. Our Instagram has also been a terrific platform for us to be able to interact with people that are interested in booking us. All in all, we are excited about any kind of exposure and look forward to what the future brings.

Did you two design a new drink menu?
Rene: We have a drink menu and a bunch of signature cocktails that we offer people. Depending on the event and what the client wants is really what if comes down to. We love to get creative!

What is your favorite drink on the menu?
Rene: Oh boy, I’m a tequila drinker so anything we come up with that tequila can mix with is good enough for me. I’ve also had never been afraid of pink drinks!
