Qualifying went down in Dick’s Ditch today with a new twist to the “classic” banked slalom. With 417” of snowfall so far this season and a recent window of clear weather, the JH Park crew had ideal conditions to get extra creative with this year’s course. Over the last week the crew has been hard at work shaping and building a course that would not only be challenging for all 147 competitors but also give them the opportunity to show off some style and have fun with it. Running from Lupine Way to South Pass Traverse, racers were met with a variety of features including a rainbow log, hip to step-up and an array of other hits throughout.

“Our goal this year was to create a course that was really fun with a great flow,” JH Park crew manager, Ranyon d’Arge, commented. “We aim to make this event about the competitors and offering them a new take on the course has really set the tone for an exciting weekend.”

Nico Grambow takes on the rainbow log.

Alex Jones sends it into the lower portion of the course.

Competition was tough in the ditch but when all was settled 70% of the field would be moving on to Sunday’s final. See qualifying results below and check back for updates on Sunday’s action!
