On November 1st, 2018 a FedEx truck drove up to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) offices to deliver a 3,000 pound milky crystal to the attention of the JHMR owner Connie Kemmerer.  Connie, along with her brother and sister, has owned the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort since 1992.  Over the 26 years of owning the resort, the Kemmerer Family have been incredible stewards of the mountain and the community while investing into the lifts and facilities, making the resort what it is today. When planning long time JHMR President, Jerry Blann’s retirement, Connie started thinking about what she wanted as her legacy, and crystals seemed like the perfect contribution to the already special mountain environment.

About that time Connie met Marta Barreras, a crystal worker, Feng Shui expert and energy healer from Hawaii who has distributed crystals all over the world.  Marta has extensive experience in placing large crystals to enhance and restore harmony in large areas and communities. Crystals are believed to carry and transmit positive energy of high vibration that benefits the people and environment around them. This is in alignment with Connie’s personal beliefs in their healing powers, plus her family’s heritage of involvement with the coal industry in the USA and her father’s interest in geology.  As a children Connie and her siblings played “name that rock,” “find the crystal or dinosaur bone,” and used Giger counters to locate and name the type of uranium their father had hidden for them.

For Connie, placing these crystals on the mountain would be a legacy aimed at energetically protecting the resort and the community, while positively impacting every person and guest at the resort.  Milky or White Quartz is also called Wisdom or Majestic Quartz; it is one of the most underrated and powerful healing crystals. It contains centuries of information, hence the milky quality which was caused by bubbles in the quartz as it solidifiedMilky quartz is believed to facilitate a fundamental shift in human consciousness, one that will bring peace, calm and balance to individuals and humankind.

Heart Mountain, as the crystal was named 15 years ago has a second crystal growing out of its ‘heart’ or center.  It came from Galileia, Brazil, which is another major energy vortex as in India, Peru and the Tetons.  The crystal has been in storage or on display with five other crystals that came from the same area that are now all moving across the US to be displayed in their long awaited homes. Two are relocating from Sun Valley and another is going on display at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum. Crystals of this size and quality are very rare.

So where is the 3,000 pound crystal going to be placed?

The final location of Heat Mountain will be high up on Rendezvous Mountain, somewhere around Casper Bowl or East Ridge of Rendezvous Mountain close to a trail where hikers can safely view it, but for this winter it will live at the base. Next summer Heart Mountain will be transported by helicopter to its home location, which will be approved by the Forest Service, Mary Kate Buckley, the new president of JHMR and Connie’s brother, Jay Kemmerer.

Thank you Connie for your dedication to Jackson Hole!  The placement of crystals on our mountain is part of your legacy, and we encourage all our guests to pay a visit to Heart Mountain this winter before it moves to its final location.

Connie is very appreciative of the B&A team that helped make getting the crystal on the mountain a possibility.
