Last week we closed the doors on another fantastic winter season here at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. 135 days of operation provided more than ample time for eager skiers and snowboarders to leave their marks on Rendezvous Mountain and we’re certainly glad for those that did join us for some lift accessed schussing. Each winter as part of the closing weekend festivities, we take a chance to celebrate those committed and loyal skiers and riders who cross the age-old mark of skiing or riding 100 days in a season. That celebration comes in the form of the 100-day club breakfast on the Saturday before closing day each year. It’s a moment where the familiar faces from the tram line throughout the season congregate, reminisce, and most importantly eat. Remarks from JHMR brass are followed by the distribution of the annual 100-club patch and a delicious spread from Piste Mountain Bistro.

We took some time to chat with members of this prestigious club and get some anecdotal figures and impressive feats from the group. Here is what we found:

  • This year’s club is the largest in JHMR history at 150 members, surpassing last years record of 144.
  • 16 people completed the ‘perfect season’ – meaning they skied every day of winter 18/19, which tied last years record-setting number.
    • Of the 16 perfect seasons by club members, 8 of the individuals also recorded a perfect season last year.
  • There were individuals who have spent years on the list and around the valley, but also newbies who just completed their first winter in Jackson.
  • John Clegg, one of the 100-day club members, skied the headwall over 100 days including 8 times during the Coomb’s Classic this year.
  • Injuries and parenthood were among a few of the distractions for club members
  • One gentleman joined the 100-day club on a Grand Pass Bypass for the first time
  • One lady joined the 100-day club after finishing college in December
  • Club members hail from 15 different states (according to their addresses)
  • They ALL planned on skiing on our employee ski day, the following Monday, as part of their benefits of being in the club. What’s one more day?

What rang out the loudest among the club members was really something simple. They all just love to ski or ride. A lot of remarks from the group gave shout outs to JHMR’s Grooming Department because if you’re going to ski 100 days, you’re going to spend some time on the groomers. A lot of kudos were given to the JHMR Ski Patrol, who deserve more than their fair share for keeping us safe throughout the season.

But watching the 100 clubbers interact reminds you that at the core: skiing is fun and it’s always a good day when you’re in the mountains. Some set the goal to reach 100 in the fall and follow through on it, but we’re sure that many more people may set the goal and do not succeed. As the morning went on it was easy to get the sense that a lot of these people would be here again, a year from now in the same room, eating the same meal. For they are committed and for that, “Thank You”.
