Adaptive Steep and Deep Camp 2013

In our continuing efforts to offer unique and exciting ski experiences, the Jackson Hole Mountain Sports School will again include adaptive skiers in our popular March Steep and Deep Camp. This four day camp is targeted for advanced skiers seeking a challenging “big mountain” experience. Participants will develop and refine the strategies and tactics necessary to explore the variety of terrain and snow conditions for which Jackson Hole is famous. World Champion and Paralympic medalist Chris Devlin-Young will join with seasoned JHMSS Adaptive Instructors to offer insight on finding the best line, how to read a slope, steep skiing etiquette, and terrain selection. Last Year CDY accomplished the 1st unassisted sit ski descent of the infamous Corbet's Couloir. Chris' extremely high level of skiing and coaching was a great asset for all.

An important part of this camp is “inclusion” as adaptive skiers will participate in all camp activities equally on and off the snow whenever possible. “As an amputee, I usually ski with other adaptive skiers. I really enjoyed the opportunity to be grouped with other skiers based on my abilities and not by the equipment I use to move down the hill. The instructors with the camp were truly top-notch. I cannot wait to come back to the Steeps and Deeps of Jackson Hole next year”, was the response from Joel Berman, Executive Director of Adaptive Adventures and participant at last year’s camp.

Come join us for a truly fun and exciting ski opportunity!
