Snowboard Level Assessment
Beginner – Learn to Ride
Level 1: Your first time on a snowboard
Goals: Introduction to equipment, standing, skating, stepping, slipping, straight run and stopping. Develop excitement for snowboarding.
Level 2: You can use the lifts and make a few turns on green terrain
Goals: Building confidence, improving control with basic turns. Ride the easiest beginner trails.
Intermediate – Blue Plate Special
Level 3: You can link heel and toe turns on green terrain with ease
Goals: Basic turns with varying shapes and sizes. Experiment with increasing and decreasing speed.
Level 4: You are comfortable connecting heel and toe turns on groomed blue terrain
Goals: Efficient speed control on green and blue terrain. Using a variety of turns to ride new terrain. Starting to explore the mountain.
Advanced – Mountain Riders
Level 5: You confidently ride black groomed terrain and blue off-piste terrain
Goals: Dynamic turns, and mastery of speed control on blue and easy black runs. Experimenting with small bumps and other terrain features.
Level 6: You confidently ride black off-piste terrain
Goals: Develop tactical and technical variations for riding all terrain and snow conditions
