Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) Takes Summer Seriously
You can hike it, bike it, or even sail above it!
(Teton Village, WY. May 25, 2009) – Classic high alpine hiking in the Tetons begin and end at the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, home to the new aerial tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
From moderately easy to strenuous hikes, from less than a mile loop to the classic multiday 39 miles Teton Crest Trail, nothing beats the experience of hiking between granite peaks and ridgelines 4000 feet above the valley floor.
Down below JHMR has seven miles of single-track suitable for mountain bikers of all skill levels. Teewinot lift will begin running on June 20, 2009 for Peak Season and provides direct access to all of the trails without the uphill battle. JH Sports, located just below the lift, offers free Teewinot lift access with a full day mountain bike rental.
JHMR is the launch site for world renowned JH Paragliding. Boasting the largest vertical drop of any tandem flight in the U. S. It’s a once in a lifetime experience to fly 4,139 vertical feet under the “wing” of your flight. Feel the wind, eyeball the eagles, and loop the loop for the not so faint of heart.
Other activities at the mountain base this summer include the bungee trampoline, climbing wall and Frisbee golf. Utilizing a trampoline and bungee cord system, the bungee trampoline safely propels kids and adults up to 24 feet in the air. The climbing wall offers a variety of routes for climbers ranging from beginner to expert. Both activities open in mid-June and are located next to the Bridger Center. The 9-hole 3,150’ Frisbee golf course is back this summer and is free for everyone. The course starts just uphill from the Bridger Center and opened May 23.
The Kids Ranch provides day camps for kids of all ages as well as a day care for children 6 months to 2 years. The fun-loving Kids Ranch staff offer up diverse activities including hiking, climbing, biking, outdoor sports, science projects, arts & crafts and water play. Please call the Kids Ranch at 307.739.2788 for more information and day car reservations.
