Wer'e going to let you in on a little secret: winter in Jackson Hole isn't just for skiing and snowboarding.  There are plenty of ways to enjoy the snow, scenery and abundant wildlife in the Jackson Hole region all winter long.

Snowmobile Tours  Whether you want to explore the mountains, cruise out to Granite Hot Springs or journey all the way to Yellowstone, a snowmobile tour is a great way to cover a lot of ground and explore the splendor of Jackson Hole in the winter.  We reccommend getting out there with a guide that can take care of logistics and show you the best sights.  It should be noted that the road into Yellowstone National Park is closed in the winter, and a snowmobile or snowcoach tour is the only way to see Yellowstone in the winter and have the park to yourself.  More Info.

National Elk Refuge Sleigh Ride Tours  The National Elk Refuge is the winter feed grounds of thousands of elk in Jackson Hole.  Ride a horse-drawn sleigh ride amongst the elk for one of the most spectacular wildlife excursions imaginable.  Season: mid-December through early April.  More Info.

Sledding/Tubing  Sliding down snow is fun!  Kids and adults alike can have a blast enjoying a tow up the hill followed by a thrilling snow tubing experience at Snow King Resort in the town of Jackson.  The Ice Castle in the Village Commons area at Teton Village offers fun playtime for kids as well as an adjacent sledding hill.  More Info.

Explore the Town Square  Jackson's historic Town Square offers unique shopping, dining and art experiences in downtown Jackson.  With it's signature boardwalks and elk antler arches, don't miss a stroll in the square.  Part of the winter even features a skating rink in the center of the square.  More on Dining and Shopping.

Snowshoeing/Nordic Skiing  If skiing or snowboarding isn't your thing, perhaps cross-country skiing or snowshoeing is more your pace.  Enjoy the exhilirating combination of exercise, exploration and enjoyment of breathtaking Wyoming scenery.  More Info.

Heli-Skiing  High Mountain heli-skiing offers once-in-a-liftetime skiing experiences in the Snake River Range, just south of the Tetons.  The helicopter ride in this beautiful mountain range is as incredible as the untracked powder skiing in moderate terrain that is perfect for advanced or expert skiers.  More Info.

Skiing at Grand Targhee  The skiing on the "other side" of the Tetons can be quite spectacular as well.  Grand Targhee offers up great powder skiing and incredible views of the west side of the Teton Range.  Grand Targhee is a pretty 75-minute drive from Jackson. More Info.

Wildlife Tours  Winter can be a great time to see wildlife in Jackson Hole.  While bears are usually in hibernation until early spring, moose, bison and elk are all abundant.  Take a Wildlife or National Park Tour and get out into some of the more quiet and beautiful areas of the valley.  More Info.

Ride a "Fat Bike" in the Snow  Teton Mountain Bike Tours will help you bundle up and enjoy some of the most scenic areas in Jackson Hole.  Their "fat bikes" offer great traction and a comfy ride on snowpacked roads.  This is one of the most unique ways to experience winter in Jackson Hole! Night Skiing at Snow King  The "town hill" offers up a great skiing experience, whether by day or night.  Snow King has the only night skiing in the area and features steep slopes and great views rising straight above the town of Jackson.  More Info.

The National Museum of Wildlife Art  features a large collection of wildlife art, focusing not just on the wildlife found around Jackson Hole, but all over the world.  In addition to the wonderful exhibits, visitors can enjoy an outdoor sculpture trail and the best view in town of the National Elk Refuge.  More Info.
