JACKSON HOLE MOUNTAIN RESORT'S COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

NEWS: on Friday May 6th JHMR was awarded the 2011 Golden Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence – the most prestigious environmental award in the ski industry. JHMR last received this coveted award in 1995. Read more here.

JHMR has long respected the natural beauty and ecological significance of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in which we are situated. In April 2006, JHMR achieved ISO 14001 certification following our Silver Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence - Visual Impact in 2005 and Silver Eagle Award for Energy Conservation in 2003.

JHMR Environmental Policy: JHMR will grow in harmony with its environment by developing and implementing a comprehensive environmental program.

To implement our environmental policy, JHMR commits to:
- Follow applicable environmental laws and regulations.
- Follow the principles of National Ski Area Association's (NSAA) Sustainable Slopes Charter.
- Establish targets for pollution prevention.
- Continually review and improve our environmental program.
- Communicate our environmental work and policy to employees and the public.
- Meet our 10x15 quantitative goals

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has achieved ISO 14001 certification of its environmental programs, the second of only two ski resorts in the US to achieve this recognition. ISO 14001 certification is the most widely known and respected environmental stamp of approval, which demonstrates responsible management of our environmental impacts. Our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) requires that all our environmental projects include:

Planning
Includes documentation on the scope of the EMS, environmental policy, environmental aspects, legal/other requirements, and objectives/targets.

Implementing
Includes documentation on resources/roles/responsibility, competence/training, communication, documentation, documentation control, operational control, and emergency preparedness.

Reviewing
Includes monitoring/measurement, compliance evaluation, nonconformity/corrective action/preventive action, record control, internal audit, and management review.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is an authorized permittee of Grand Teton National Park and the Bridger-Teton National Forest, and is an equal opportunity employer.
