Mountain Sports School Employment
Thank you for your interest in working at the Jackson Hole Mountain Sport School (JHMSS). We have a limited number of full- and part-time instructor positions available for the 2009/2010 winter season and we will only consider applicants who can demonstrate a passion for teaching and who have the appropriate on-mountain skills in their discipline.
Applicants should also possess the following trait
*An outgoing and engaging personality
*The desire to teach students of all ages including 3-6 y/o, 7-14 y/o and adults
*The willingness and physical ability to teach beginner* through advanced** lessons.
*Be motivated to do a job well and hold a positive attitude while striving to attain a high level of professionalism at all times.
*The ability to lead and demonstrate active leadership under all conditions
*The capacity for sound decision making with an emphasis on individual and group safety.
New instructors will be hired as per the following 2 categories
1 - Experienced new hire
If you are an experienced professional with a minimum of a Level One certification and at least three years full-time teaching experience within PSIA-AASI*** , or have the foreign equivalent (including ISIA Certification), then you may be considered for an instructing position with the JHMSS without attending our Instructor Training Camp (ITC). To be considered as an experienced applicant you must be able to provide evidence of current certification, references and a copy of your most recent Ski School evaluation. If you are not successful at gaining employment as an experienced applicant then you may still apply as an "Inexperienced New Hire" by attending the 2009/2010 ITC.
All successful applicants must be available for "Experienced New Hire" training Dec 12 -Dec 16. Successful applicants may also be needed for earlier training depending on what program they are selected to work in. You may be required to start work immediately following training depending upon levels of business. It is mandatory for all employees to be available to work our peak periods listed below.
2 - Inexperienced New Hire
Applicants who have not taught skiing or snowboarding or who are certified Level 1 instructors with less than three years of full-time teaching experience are required to attend the Instructor Training Camp (ITC) to be held December 6-9, 2009. Jobs will be offered to candidates based upon performance at the ITC and availability of positions within the JHMSS. The number hired will depend on the number of returning instructors to the JHMSS and on the economic outlook for the 2009/2010 winter season. We will not be deciding on the final hiring numbers until the last day of the ITC.

After entering your contact details you will be emailed log in and password details that will allow you to return at any time prior to November 25th to complete your application.

* Inexperienced Instructors who are hired through the "2009/2010 Instructor Training Course" will initially be trained to teach levels 1-4 only.
** All experienced new hires must be trained on our terrain prior to being assigned lessons.
*** Professional Ski Instructors of America/American Association of Snowboard Instructors or foreign equivalent.
