Frequently asked questions
- What is the best time to get my equipment?
Our busiest times in the rental shop are from 9am to about 11am and again from 3:30pm to about 4:30pm.If you want to avoid the crowds, it is often best to be at the shop bright and early or after 5pm.
- How long is the rental process?
Our goal is to get everyone through from start to finish in 25 minutes. This is typically the longest it will take you. If you are renting during a non-peak time you can generally be in and out in less than 10 minutes.
- What if I try a pair of skis and decide that I would like to try something else, can I do that?
Guests are able to exchange their equipment at any time for any reason. Skiers & snowboarders will occasionally decide to change their ski/snowboard or boot size once they have completed a few runs. One of the advantages of our location is that we are easily accessible for exchanges.
- What if I decide to ski another day, can I extend my rental and keep the skis?
Of course. In fact, it is more convenient for you to keep your rental so that you are all set for the next day. You can keep your equipment for as many days as you need it. We just ask that you let us know you are extending - but you don't have to pay right away. You can settle the additional days with the shop when you return.
- Is there somewhere to store my skis overnight?
Jackson Hole Sports offers two options for overnight storage. If you are looking to store more than just your skis or snowboard, you might want to consider our daily or weekly locker room. ($15 per day or $90 for the week). If you are interested in storing just your skis or snowboard overnight, we have a ski & snowboard check.($3/night per pair)
- I would like to rent my skis the evening before I plan to ski. Can I do that without being charged for that day?
Yes you can. We begin setting up skis for the following day after 3pm. We suggest that guests avoid coming in between 3:45pm and 4:30pm as we get the bulk of our returns during that time. Our shop is open until 7 pm so that you have plenty of time to secure your rentals.
- Can I reserve a specific demo ski advance?
You can request a specific ski model in size by giving us a call in the shop at (307) 739-2649. We do our best to accommodate all requests but there are times when a certain ski might not be available. If for some reason we can't get the exact ski you want we have over 350 pairs of demo skis so we will be able to get you on a similar ski.
- Can I call the night before and have a ski set aside for me?
Yes you can. Many people looking for a particular demo ski will do just that. This enables you to talk to a rental technician and choose between which skis are available. As well, you can discuss current ski conditions with the technician and make your decision based upon that information.
- What if I want to take a day off from skiing in the middle of my ski vacation?
This is something that many of the mountain's guests will do. Jackson Hole offers a variety of other options such as Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sleigh rides and snowmobiling. When we rent skis we do so for consecutive days only. Many people will rent their skis for an initial number of days then return them. They will then re-rent their equipment for the last few days.
- What if I would like to rent just boots and use my own skis?
We do rent boots only. However, there is a restriction on that rental. Anyone wanting to use our boots with their skis must have a binding release test performed on their ski bindings. This ensures that our boots will properly release from your skis if you experience a fall. There is a fee for this test and the test can take 20-30 minutes to complete. If you are interested in renting just boots, we recommend that you come in the evening before or give yourself some extra time.
