Snowboard Class Lesson FAQs
Listed below are the most common questions regarding snowboard class lessons. Please read through this guide, as the answer to you question is probably here!
Where do we meet?
-Learn to Ride and Blue Plate Special classes form at the Teewinot Meeting Place, under the Mountain Sports School sign. This sign is located at the base of the Teewinot Lift, across the Bridger Lawn from the Four Seasons.
-Mountain Riders classes form at the Top of the Gondola Meeting Place, under the Mountain Sports School sign. Please allow for a 10 minute ride to the top of the gondola.
Is there a lunch break?
In full day lessons, classes break for an hour around noon.
What type of lift ticket is included?
-Learn to Ride package lift tickets are valid on Teewinot and Eagle's Rest chairlifts only.
-Blue Plate Special package lift tickets are valid on all beginner and intermediate chairlifts.
-Mountain Rider package lift tickets are valid on all chairlifts.
What equipment is included in the rental package?
The rental package includes a snowboard and pair of boots.
What should I bring?
-Wicking long underwear tops and bottoms
-Waterproof Jacket
-Waterproof gloves or mittens
-Goggles
-Mid-weight top or fleece shirt (for layering options)
-Waterproof/breathable snowboard/ski pants
-Helmet or a warm hat that covers your ears
-Wicking snowboard socks
-Lip balm and sunscreen
-Neck gaiter
Do I need a helmet?
Jackson Hole Mountain resort neither discourages nor encourages the use of helmets. Helmets can be rented or purchased at Jackson Hole Sports in the Bridger Center.
What if I don’t know my level?
Please refer to our snowboard level assessment chart. If you are hesitant, it is always better to hedge on the conservative side, especially if time has passed since you last rode. That way you'll allow yourself the opportunity to regain confidence and refresh your skills.
What happens in a typical class?
9:50 – 10:15am - preliminary groups are formed by a verbal skills assessment.
10:15 – 12:00pm - groups are solidified and instruction begins
12:00pm – 1:00pm - lunch break
1:00pm – 3:30pm - instruction
3:30pm – 4:00pm - students may freeride without the instructor
What if I am looking for more personal attention?
A private lesson is a fantastic option for those who learn best in a one-on-one environment.
Can I request a specific instructor?
Yes, but the only way that we can guarantee a specific instructor is by booking a private lesson.
Will I get the same instructor if I take multiple lessons?
No, but you may request to have the same instructor and we will do our best to accommodate you.
What if I am late for my lesson?
We will try to integrate you into the appropriate class, but you may have to reschedule for another day. Afternoon classes are also available.
Do I need a reservation?
No. We do not take reservations for class lessons. You can purchase your lesson ticket on upon arrival.
What if I can’t use my lesson ticket that day?
We will be happy to switch your lesson to another date. Tickets are non-refundable.
What if I still can't ride after my first lesson?
We guarantee that you'll be able to ride after your first beginner class lesson. If you can't control your speed and make turns, you may repeat the first day Learn to Ride class as many times as you wish, free of charge!
