JHMR Receives Never-Ending Snow

“The Big One,” Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) receives Never Ending Snow
Current Snowfall already over 50% of last years TOTAL snowfall

(Teton Village, Wyo., December 21, 2007) – Visitors to Jackson Hole cannot believe their good fortune, there have been only TWO days without snowfall since our Opening Day, December 1st.  (Please, go check, we want you to!)

Daily snowfall has brought over 161 inches so far this season, 80 of which have fallen since December 1st, over 41 inches this week, and nothing but snow forecasted through the end of this month, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is lined up to have one of those legendary powder seasons that will be talked about for years to come.

This weekend, JHMR will open the legendary Hobacks, completing access to the entire resort 2,500 acres, 11 of 11 lifts and 4,139 vertical feet of terrain.

“There is no doubt that this is an exceptional season so far, and with a La Nina season predicted, I think our guests are going to be very glad they chose to ski in the Tetons this winter” commented Jerry Blann, JHMR President.

Could it be karma smiling on us thanks to it being our first winter we are offsetting 100% of our energy usage with renewable energy?  It’s possible, this year JHMR made a three year commitment to the purchase of renewable energy, which will have the same environmental impact as planting 5,292 trees (an area over twice the size of JHMR).  This commitment is just part of a company wide environmental management system including using sustainable construction for the new Bridger Restaurants and adopting a visionary mass transit program for staff and season passholders.

Is it thanks to JHMR for building the first ever on-mountain fine dining restaurant at the summit of the Bridger Gondola, Couloir Restaurant and Bar.  For the first time ever, guests can take a starlit gondola ride in the evening and walk off the gondola at the 9,095 foot summit to find three restaurants which will greet them with warm hospitality, vibrant atmosphere, magnificent scenery, contemporary western cuisine and superb service.  As well as a hip bar scene, gourmet pizza spot and expansive outdoor heated deck, this is “the place to be” for all visiting and local après aficionados.

Another reason that the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort guests, season passholders and employees could be deserving of this incredible snowfall and season to date, is patience.  Next season will be the inaugural season of our new Aerial Tram, due to be completed by December, 2008.  While the entire mountain continues to be 100% accessible, locals and guests have been riding the mountain without complaint, and love having the open lift lines and untracked powder all to themselves.

Whatever the reason may be for this incredible month of snow, everyone will agree that Jackson Hole locals and visitors have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season!
