Season 06/07 End Results
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) ended Winter 2006/07 with its second strongest season on record, at 402,400 skier visits. "To reach this figure, knowing the business climate we have weathered this season including low snow and delays in the much anticipated Bridger Restaurants is an accomplishment. Our business is changing and although we still consider the skier day volume an important metric, a true reflection of the season takes into account other business segments," stated Jerry Blann. "We anticipated a slight reduction in business this winter due to the reconstruction of the tram, but with additional challenge of low snow, we had to work incredibly hard to meet our goals. As we reflect on the season, we believe the snow was the largest single determining factor for our business levels." This winter's JHMR results reflect a dependence on a balance between destination guests and locals. Strong results in the Mountain Sports School and Retail departments helped to offset poorer results in Dining due to the partially opened restaurant. Season Passholder skier days were slightly ahead of last year, but destination skier days were down. Excellent Holiday and President's Week business levels allowed JHMR to exceed goals at these peak times, but the lack of snow in January and March effected bookings for the last two months of the season. Our 2nd Annual Mountain Festival brought a festive atmosphere to the base for the last two weeks of the season, despite low snow levels creating fun memories for all those who attended. "We cannot thank the local skiers and snowboarders enough," added Blann. "We have had every weather condition possible this winter, and coming off one of our biggest snow years last year, I applaud the tenacity of all locals who just kept coming out. I also would like to praise our operations departments who kept the ski product in unbelievable shape, every day, for all our guests." Looking forward, JHMR is in final preparation for a new product line up this summer. The highlights will include day and evening rides on the Bridger Gondola accessing Headwall Deli and Couloir, the new on-mountain fine dining lunch and dinner restaurant, a free outdoor summer music series, and the grand re-opening of the new Grand Teton Music Festival Hall. Teewinot Chairlift will operate for mountain bikers to access beginner, intermediate and advanced single track. Hiking will be available off the Gondola including to the summit, the Teton Crest Trail and to the base. The Bridger Center is the new Guest Activity and Service Center, including Café 6311, shopping, and equipment rentals, and the popular climbing wall and bungee jumping trampoline will return. JHMR winter season pass holders can ride the Bridger Gondola for free all summer beginning Saturday May 26, 2007. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is third party ISO certified as a "green" company, the second of only two ski resorts, and one of the smaller companies in the US, to achieve this recognition. ISO 14001 certification is the most widely known and respected environmental stamp of approval, which demonstrates responsible management of our environmental impacts. |
