New Award Winning Chef to launch new fine dining experience, Couloir


Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Hires Award Winning, Popular Chef

(Teton Village, Wyo., April 3, 2007) Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is pleased to announce that John "Wes" Hamilton has accepted the position of Executive Chef for the new on-mountain restaurants located at the summit of the Bridger Gondola. Hamilton joins JHMR in time to launch Couloir , the Resort's first fine dining restaurant, June 14, 2007.

Chef Wes Hamilton, a native of Florida, has honed his skills around the country most recently settling in the West. In 2000 he won the coveted "Best Young Chef" National Championships in California, and since then has developed his talents at two of Jackson Hole's finest restaurants, Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park and The Westbank Grill at the Four Seasons Resort, Jackson Hole. Hamilton returns to Jackson for this position following 12 months at a luxury guest ranch in Colorado.

Hamilton's cooking style is simple, yet precise. Rarely blending more than three flavor principles in a dish, he believes in high precision and execution of each dish for maximum enjoyment for each guest. He takes a "less is more" approach, looking for what can be taken away, rather than what could be added.

"I have some great menu ideas for Couloir, taking into account the mountain setting, the seasonality of our business and the western appeal of the resort. I like to speak to my guests and find out their tastes, and cooking at over 9000 feet elevation looking over the valley is already inspiring me. My goal is to quickly establish an excellent reputation for our restaurants that appeals to all," said Hamilton.

"Hamilton has an impressive resume that combines business and culinary skills. He is a brilliant chef, a talented manager with extensive resort knowledge and a perfect addition as we introduce our first fine dining restaurant, Couloir in June," stated Jerry Blann, President JHMR. "Wes has built an excellent reputation nationally and in Jackson Hole, and I know many locals are excited to see him return. With the incredible high alpine setting for Couloir and Wes's talents, we are looking forward to delivering a first class experience." Blann added.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is third party ISO certified as a "green" company, the second of only two ski resorts, and one of the smaller companies in the US, to achieve this recognition.  ISO 14001 certification is the most widely known and respected environmental stamp of approval, which demonstrates responsible management of our environmental impacts.
