Safety Week 07

Safety First at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

(Teton Village, Wyo. Jan.12, 2007) - Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) celebrate the 8th Annual National Safety Awareness Week January 13 - 19, 2007 at JHMR.
Safety Week activities are centered on the seven points of the Skier's and Snowboarder's Responsibility Code, which are key elements of safe skiing and riding.

Your Responsibility Code

1.      Always stay in control.
2.      People ahead of you have the right of way.
3.      Stop in a safe place for you and others
4.      Whenever starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield.
5.      Use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
6.      Observe signs and warning, and keep off closed trails.
7.      Know how to use the lifts safely.
KNOW THE CODE. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

The JHMR Safety Booth will be located at the top of the Bridger Gondola all week. Ski Patrollers and JHMR Safety Officials will be on hand to promote safety awareness, answer questions and give away great prizes, including a '07-'08 Weekend Warrior Season Pass!

Additionally, The JHMR Avalanche Rescue Dogs will perform rescue demonstrations and the Ski Patrol will host daily transceiver drills. Those who find a buried transceiver the fastest will win $50.00from JHMR!

As NSAA President Michael Berry commented, "safety remains a top priority throughout the season for ski resorts, and Safety Week is an opportunity for both guests and employees to gain a better understanding of the importance of personal responsibility on the slopes."
