  Using green cleaning products• Three years ago, with impetus from an EPA grant, JHMR began using ‘green’ cleaning products. These products (called “The Natural” from Clean Environment, Inc. in Lincoln, NE) contain ingredients like sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), sodium lauryl sulfate (from coconut and palm oil) and citric acid (from fermented corn), rather than phosphates, chlorine bleach and phenol disinfectants. The green cleaning products have reduced high levels of ammonia in our wastewater and the janitorial staff enjoys using the less toxic products. Recycling snowmelt |
