Winter Yurt Information
We invite you to spend an unforgettable night in the Tetons at the Rock Springs Yurt. This adventure has been designed for friends and families who want to experience the beauty of the Teton backcountry without all the hassle. Our expert guides will cook your food, stoke up the stove, and even do the dishes. This leaves you and your party with time to sit back, relax and enjoy a memorable summer evening!
What’s a yurt? A yurt is a round Mongolian tent dating back to the days of Ghengis Kahn. Ours is a little newer (built in the summer of 2002) and has a wood-burning stove, 8 bunk beds, a kitchen and a big dining table. We’ve stocked it with sleeping bags, foam mattresses, plates, utensils, gas lanterns and amenities such as wine glasses to make your stay comfortable and fun.
In the summer, the Yurt is reachable by foot from Teton Village via a 2.5 mile trail gaining 1,400 feet in elevation. The hike takes you up to Rock Springs via the Union Pass Traverse below the Hobacks, through old growth forests, and up onto the opening meadow of Rock Springs Canyon.
