Franti is the creator and driving force behind Michael Franti & Spearhead, a band that blends hip hop with a variety of other styles including funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock. He is also an outspoken supporter for a wide spectrum of peace and social justice issues. Their new album, Yell Fire!, was inspired by Franti's trip to Israel, Baghdad, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. In an effort to share his experiences from his trip and to explore the human cost of war, Franti also produced a movie entitled I Know I'm Not Alone, using the songs Yell Fire! as a soundtrack.

I Know I'm Not Alone will show at the Center for the Arts in Jackson on Monday, March 31st at 7pm. Info on the screening can be found here.
