Skiing with the Steep & Deep Adaptive Camp

I got to ski with the Steep & Deep Adaptive camp last winter and have been looking forward to the chance to do it again ever since. Not only do these guys have a blast on the hill, but they absolutely shred and the energy is contagious. Campers come back year after year and it’s easy to see why.

Last Friday morning 7″ greeted our crew and we started the day by heading up the tram.  Odie is a camper but lives in the valley and knows the drill. He rides at JHMR often.

Mike is geared up and ready to shred the 7 fresh inches that awaited in Rendezvous Bowl. To say there was a lot of hooting and hollering on that first run would be an understatement.

After a glorious start to the day in the Bowl, the group headed over into Bernie’s Bowl, which was coated in surfy cream cheese and was dishing out great turns. The group was frothing with excitement and I barely had time to get the camera out of my bag, which is exactly how it should be. Mike gets right into the deepness:

Odie surfs the pow.

Always ready for more…

Steve was the final member of our group on this morning. Steve (and all of the rest of us, for that matter) was pretty stoked when this photo was taken as he had just casually dropped the line in the background. No hesitation and a clean stomp. Steve knows exactly what he’s doing out there and is not the easiest guy to keep up with.

Here Steve finds some fun terrain and great snow as instructor Andy looks on. Steve is from Calgary but is a regular in Jackson Hole for this camp.

We headed over to Flip Point in search of fresh turns. Mission accomplished:

Steve cruises underneath Sublette. Cheering from the chairlift was frequent and well deserved for this posse.

Scoping lines in Cheyenne Bowl

And then promptly shredding them

We had to get one more lap in Bernie’s Bowl, and it had hardly been touched since the first run. Mike gets in deep.

How could you not be fired up?

Anemometer Ridge provides the perfect playground and our crew made sure to take full advantage. Here Steve takes the leap into a foggy and soft landing

I can’t wait to ski again with these guys!
