Wow…the snow just keeps on coming down!
With snow on our mind we have been out skiing and exploring like crazy…a foot of snow is like a shot of caffeine in Jackson.
We actually snowshoed for the first time last week and did it again this week with one of our close friends because we loved it so much!
Snowshoeing is a great way to explore when your legs get sore from shredding on the hill and need a little down time. There are many great locations close to Jackson to snowshoe; it just so happens that two weeks in a row we headed over to Taggart Lake in Grand Teton National Park.
If you head out of town towards the National Park (past the airport) you take a left at Moose Junction…then head all the way in to where you meet the road is closed sign. There is a parking lot on the left side with plenty of other cars parked most of the time. That’s the trail head for Taggart Lake…just follow the trail! 🙂
What a peaceful treat!
The snow was beyond amazing…feet and feet of powder as well as a trail packed down at times from others exploring the area. Even though you’ll see cars parked in the lot, you’l l only pass a few people on the trail. Most of the time it’s just you, the breeze, and a few snowflakes coming down.
It’s about 1.6 miles each way to the lake; but you can always go even further around the lake or over to Bradley Lake as well. It’s a winter wonderland out there…both times we went it was snowing and quiet.
Picture perfect and a great place to take a mental break from the regular ebb and flow of life.
So grab your family, your friends or yourself and head out snowshoeing…you will have nothing but fun!
