Don’t just reach for the stars, shred with them.
Jackson Hole Mountain Sports School and Teton Gravity Research have partnered to offer a one-of-a-kind ski and snowboard camp for kids in middle and high school. TGR “Grom” Camp offers teenagers the ultimate freeriding experience in the mountain mecca of Jackson Hole. Rising rippers spend three days learning from the superstars of the sport, including TGR cast members and the best Mountain Sports School youth coaches. JHMR Athlete, Daniel Tisi, has participated in the camp for 3 years and is stoked for another year of shredding with the best of the best. We sat down with him and asked a few questions about why this camp is so unique.
What’s your favorite thing about TGR Grom Camp?
My favorite part of the TGR Grom Camp is getting to shred with pros like Tim. He is on another level with his skiing and its very cool to learn from him. The coaches are awesome too!
International Women’s Ski Day is a worldwide holiday combining brand, ability and wide-ranging ages to bring women and girls together on the mountain. The celebration is simple–Get a handful of your girls together to shred and know that females all across the globe are doing the same.
The Jackson Hole Babe Force, She Jumps, and the K2 Ski Alliance are coming together to host this downhill day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on Saturday 12/13/14. The event kicks off with a 12:30 pm meeting at the base of the Bridger Gondola for a group lady shred. Bring friend, mother, daughter, sister –all ages and abilities are welcome!
A group après session will follow at the VC –where there will be a #IWSDJackson “What does it mean to be a female skier?” photo booth. Grab a piece of paper, jot down your unique answer and smile for the camera! Participants will be entered to win raffle prizes from K2 Goggles, Marker Apparel and more! Join in to celebrate and showcase the sheer number and diversity of female skiers in our valley.
The ladies of Jackson Hole are most definitely not afraid to drop in!
Next winter is JHMR’s 50th anniversary, but since it’s never too early to celebrate The Big One, join us now in watching this first installment of a six-video, TGR- produced, series chronicling a place that is Born to be Wild.

I just sat down with AJ Cargill, (this badass woman) and talked to her about what ski gear is in for the guys this year. She’s been the buyer for Teton Village Sports for, forever, and no doubt when you enter the shop you’ll want everything there. AJ is an ace at ski fashion, and effortlessly sets the trends each year for Jackson’s skiers. This year, she’s pulled a few tricks from the Alps, and she’s not afraid to show it. Here are her top picks for the men this year, all found at Teton Village Sports, Hoback Sports, and JH Sports. Get warm, get comfortable, and get skiing with AJ’s picks below!
Bob Comey has been predicting the avalanche hazard for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the surrounding Teton and Greys River Ranges, as well as for the Togwotee Pass area to the Northeast of Jackson Hole. Few have had as much experience with the snow, terrain, and avalanches conditions that return to Jackson Hole every winter than Bob has, and on November 24th, Bob joined us for a few hours in the Teton Gravity Research Forums to answer the prying questions of backcountry skiers and snowboarders.
Bob covered the gamut, from everything from the most common mistakes made by backcountry travelers to the future of snow science to the kind of bacon to have on hand for rescue dogs. Check out the recap of his Ask Me Anything session below:
What type of bacon would you recommend that in-bounds skiers carry so they can be located by rescue dogs in the event of an avalanche? -Below Zero
Any type of bacon will work.
Can you give us a good argument why the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center doesn’t use the Storm Snow problem as one of their common forecasting problems and every other avalanche center that uses the problems does so? Don’t you think you’re missing a crucial segment along the continuum from loose snow to deep persistent slabs? -homemadesalsa
We are excited to announce that 19 year old, Justin Mayers, has been added to the Jackson Hole athlete team. We have a very elite team with names like Travis Rice, Bryan Iguchi and Lynsey Dyer representing Jackson Hole. Justin is a great ambassador, very friendly and absolutely rips. He spins and flips off features with ease and has a very playful style. Growing up in Jackson Hole he obviously has a solid big mountain background.
Longtime Jackson Hole skier, celebrated ski mountaineer and Teton Village resident Kit DesLauriers was recently honored by National Geographic and named one of 10 Adventurers of the Year. The illustrious group of athletes keeping company with DesLauriers, are recognized as ‘outstanding’ individuals “who made our year in adventure with remarkable achievements in exploration, adventure sports, conservation and humanitarianism,” according to editors.
Jackson has historically been a breeding ground for talent. From Crystal Wright and Jess McMillan dominating the big mountain scene to Travis Rice and Cam Fitzpatrick testing the talent limits of the snowboard community…there are an incredible amount of athletes raised in the Tetons. These athletes are often found traveling the globe, but every professional winter athlete still finds time to come home to Jackson. One of these special talents-Resi Stiegler-will be coming home this week on a break from the World Cup circuit (which she finished an impressive 11th and 16th in Aspen and Levi). Her homecoming will involve a fundraiser this Saturday for her racing season. I quickly caught up with Resi between her travels to get the low down on her season and favorite Jackson spots!
I have to say when they groom the Grand I am just in heaven first tracks down that baby on GS skis… feels so good. I love any part of the mountain on a powder day- there are so many secret spots!
