“Love where you live” is a commonly heard saying when you live in Jackson Hole. Our everyday routines are surrounded by majestic peaks, roaming wildlife, alpine lakes, and hidden trails. Traffic jams are usually caused by migrating bison herds. Sunsets illuminate 360 degree views of mountain silhouettes. Even the crummiest weather introduces another version of Jackson Hole’s beauty. Though I spend many of my weekends (and even weekdays) hiking, biking, and being outside, I often wonder if I’m missing out on some of the activities that our valley has to offer.
After speaking with my friends Ilka and Riley Frances, I knew I wasn’t the only one questioning whether I was truly “Carpe-ing the Diem” in Jackson Hole. The conversation turned productive, and suddenly we were discussing a weekly plan to experience Teton Village, a place where the three of us work, but have never actively explored.

Alas, the Grand Adventure Girls were born. This summer, Riley Frances, Ilka, and I will be experiencing everything that Teton Village has to offer. We’ll jump off of 60 foot platforms. We’ll bounce on trampolines. We’ll have margaritas at 9,000 feet. And we’ll inevitably have a blast and create memories that we’ll share via this blog.
Good news-The summer season started on May 23rd, which means that the Tram is officially open. In making small talk with Ilka and Riley Frances, I casually mentioned that I’ve never had a Corbet’s Cabin waffle at the top of the tram. This comment was received with blank stares of disbelief. Needless to say, our first Grand Adventure Girls outing was yesterday so that I could experience breakfast at the top of the world.

First item on the agenda was dressing for the occasion. Even though it’s almost June, the top of the Tram is 35 degrees and covered with 3 feet of snow, so we headed over to JH Sports to outfit ourselves with warm layers. Lucky us-winter outerwear is 40% off, so we were able to look good on a budget. Once we had beanies that felt breakfast-worthy, we headed to the Tram docks to wait for our ride to the top. It may have been cold, but the clouds and blossoming Aspen trees were a breathtaking sight from above. As we approached the top, we saw the sign in the distance…WAFFLES.

As hungry as I was, Ilka and I couldn’t resist checking out the staircase book-cased by 5 foot walls of snow. Did I eat any snow? No comment. Did I throw some at Ilka? Most definitely. Throwing a snowball felt good, but it was time to stop procrastinating and get to the food.

I’ll be honest-Narrowing down our options from the menu board was difficult, but the friendly staff steered us in the right direction. We ended up going with The Gateway (peanut butter and bacon-no, you did not misread) and the Englishman, which is a lemon waffle topped with fresh whipped cream and powdered sugar. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll let you look below and decide whether or not we enjoyed our breakfast adventure.

When the waffles were gone and our stomachs were full, we got back on the Tram and discussed our next trip to the top. Whether you’re 8, 18, 48, or 88, the tram ride to the top and hot waffles will bring a smile to your face and that’s a Grand Adventure Girl guarantee! Join us next week for the second installment of the Grand Adventure Girls, where we’ll head over to Wool & Whiskey to surprise our boyfriends with a makeover and whiskey tasting! Don’t tell them, it’s a bit of a makeover ambush.
