What’s New at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for 2009

Posted on - 2009-08-04

2009 is the Year of the Tram. After its launch in December 2008 ‘Big Red’ is twice as big and 20% faster, bringing skiers and snowboarders from Teton Village to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain in a scant 9 minutes. Situated in the heart of the Tetons and leveraging the ‘mechanical advantage’ of North America’s most iconic lift, Jackson Hole offers an unparalleled big mountain skiing experience. As a counterpoint to the challenging terrain accessed via the Tram, the high-speed Bridger Gondola offers access to acres of moderate groomed and ungroomed slopes for the intermediate skier.

From its perch at over 9,000 feet, the Couloir Restaurant serves up a high altitude fine-dining experience celebrated by both Food and Wine Magazine (‘The Place to Eat,’ February 2008) and Conde Nast (‘Hot Tables,’ May 2008). Award winning chef Wes Hamilton sources almost all of his ingredients from within 250 miles of his chopping board (no easy undertaking in Wyoming!), creating an incredible selection of fresh locavore-style Rocky Mountain cuisine. Shortening the gap from farm-to-table ensures that every dish retains its full flavor and nutritional value, while reducing the fuel consumption required for transport—another step in Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s commitment to reduce its environmental impact.
