Nachtspektakel: it’s hard to pronounce, but easy to do. On Thursday January 6th Jackson Hole Mountain Resort invites you to the first ever on-mountain ski tour followed by light fare at the Casper Lodge. The occasion is the inaugural Nachtspektakel—German for a social ski tour. The Casper Lodge celebration will be followed by a group ski descent at 8pm lit by bright Princeton Tec headlamps which will be available for demo. The Nachtspektakel represents a totally unique opportunity to experience this amazing mountain in the evening while going for a hike in the company of friends, topped by a beer and appetizers. A limited fleet of Dynafit demo skis and boots will be available for free for those without gear, or those wanting to experience the efficiency and performance of Dynafit gear, which is available for purchase in JH Sports at the base of the Gondola. A limited supply of headlamps will also be available. Join us between 5pm and 5.30pm at JH Sports to register, come dressed for a tour, and bring a warm jacket for the twighlight descent. The cost is $20 which includes drink and appetizers. See you on the snow. US National Ski Mountaineering Championships On Saturday January 8th Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will host another ski tour, but of a totally different variety: The US National Ski Mountaineering Championship of 2011 is an 8200’ vertical foot uphill and downhill race that encompasses Jackson Hole’s most challenging terrain. This year the event will also be the qualifier for the US National Team to compete in the World Championship in February, and will likely bring together the strongest field of athletes ever seen on US soil.
